CleanMail Home

Everybody hates junk mail and no matter how often you mark your messages as spam, they just keep coming. This proves that it is not enough to rely on basic anti-spam measures, which come with most mail clients. CleanMail Home provides a better protection against spam messages and potential threats, included in those messages. The software comes with an effective anti-spam engine, called SpamAssassin. It allows you to set up numerous filters, which can be updated automatically, based on received messages.

CleanMail Home can be used on several Windows platforms, from Win 2000 to Win 8 and it works with any mail client, including popular ones, like Mozilla Thunderbird or MS Outlook. Installing the program is not difficult. The procedure does not involve complex configurations and it takes only a few moments to complete it.

The software can block unwanted mail messages, while working quietly in the background. Its tabbed interface can be displayed on the screen by clicking a system tray icon. CleanMail Home provides you with real time traffic statistics, for incoming and outgoing connections, as well as event logs, various reports, a flexible search function and more. When you launch the application for the fist time, a quick start wizard will help you make a few initial configurations, like selecting a listening address and port, a storage folder and others.

The Configuration tab, located on the main interface, is where you can set up a wide range of filters. CleanMail Home allows you to create attachment and fingerprint filters, black lists, white lists and of course, SpamAssassin filters. All filters are created by following specific instructions, presented by different wizards. In certain cases, it is sufficient to specify keywords, to block addresses, domains or attachments. Alternatively, you may reconfigure existing filters. The software comes with a number of example filters, which you can start editing, by clicking a small icon, next to their entries. The procedure is the same as creating a new filter, but you will find a few examples, typed in certain input fields.

Antivirus protection is another feature of CleanMail Home. By default, it integrates with Clam Anti-Virus, but you can select other programs, like Kaspersky, Avast, Avira and others, during the initial configurations procedure.
